– Ho Yue-jin 何禹旃 我家一向使用某隻以顏色為名的清潔液,不是因為它特別好,只是一向對這些東西不太講究而又好像大家都是用著它。可是近來卻正考慮要換換牌子,這當然和注重清潔無關,而是它在巴士的播音廣告實在太令人厭惡。對我來說,「厭惡」一詞所突出的是一種即時反應,強調當下所直接感到的「惡心」,而這「惡心」又很大程度因為過去類同不快記憶而累積的「厭煩」突然湧起所至。因此這「厭惡」有令人達至必須立即宣洩的衝動(要立即把湧起的負能量排毒),中間跳過了經過思考而決定給予什麼情感反應的過程。 為什麼我們聽得到? 好了,厭惡完後又到了每晚三省其身的時候。試問我們每天都遇到過千份的視覺廣告(平面廣告、電視廣告#1),為什麼單單一則聲音廣告會令我特別難受?即時想到的是,因為我們(以為)眼睛擁有看與不看(閉上眼)和看那兒(眼珠和頭可以動)的可能,但身體對聽覺的自主權卻十分有限,即使動用雙手掩著耳朵也只能減低聲浪而從不可以杜絕聲波。雖然,我們可以肯定無法在欠缺工具協助下選擇聽覺的0與1,但又有沒有可能在接收到的眾多聲音中選擇專注聆聽什麼?人腦本身是有一定的過濾噪音能力,透過雙耳之間接收單一音源時出現的時間差異而追蹤到音源的位置,並把這位置以外的聲音過濾。這就是為什麼我們在嘈雜環境下一樣可以清楚聽到別人的說話,但如果在同一情況下錄音,得出來的聲帶卻比現場感覺到的嘈吵得多,甚至無法再聽到對方的說話內容。這是因為錄音設備(通常)沒有人耳的定位過濾功能。我們小時候都可能做過的聽力測驗HINT(Hearing In Noise Test)就是為檢驗這能力而設的。 因此,除非在廣告播放時我正十分專注於其他音源(如與別人談話),否則廣告的高音量(中央廣播比巴士電視的聲浪高得多,也更突如其來)與及它和巴士內環境聲音顯著不同的特質,必定會引起我聽覺注意的自然反應。而當廣告的聲音引起我注意的時候,大腦便會因為我對人類聲線與廣播音色的熟悉,而自動濾去其他環境聲,使我清楚地接收到我不願接收的訊息。這便是除了追蹤音源外,大腦另一個使人聽覺更加集中的方法。它令到我們可以在眾多音源之中找到有連續意義的頻道,而不論我們對這些意義有沒有興趣。 故此,人類的聽覺在某程度上是最被動的知覺,對它的自主控制比嗅覺還要弱(我們最少可以止住呼吸數十秒去暫停臭味來襲)。而對於在封閉環境下的廣播,除了戴上耳機外我們基本上沒有主動對抗的可能。巴士內的廣播(及廣告)算是新近事物,而另一種交通工具內的廣播則「歷史悠久」得多。 廣播的「教誨」 香港的地下鐵路系統自通車開始便禁止在入閘後飲食,多年以來車長都不時會在車廂內播放不准飲食的警告。隨著車廂廣播在九十年代開始以錄音預制,不准飲食與及其他警告和訊息清一式被一把女聲取代。相信除了鐵路迷以外沒有太多人會留意這些錄音的用詞和內容。直到好幾年前,不准飲食警告的英文版由簡單的 “Your attention please! Eating or drinking is not allowed on trains”被換成“Please remember, no eating or drinking on MTR trains.…
